During the Dark Night of the Soul, our *Shadows* begin rising to the surface of our experience. They may dominate our psyche, thoughts, and behaviors as deep seated fears, leading us to act from what is known as the *pain body*. Shadows, or the darker, more painful “aspects of the self” emerge seeking conscious awareness— wishing to be seen, heard, felt, and ultimately merged with the light. There is no need to be ashamed of these parts, they are yearning for transformation into embodied empowerment. Even though they may sometimes carry gloomy or regretful thoughts and feelings, there is nothing to hide. However, the pain body can cunningly persuade us—through the ego—to keep these unconscious repressions pushed away, where they then can continue to hold power over us. These shadows may arise with full force, materializing and co-opting the psyche, taking over our whole being before we can even grasp what happened.
Giving these parts the longing attention they need, allowing them to be held within your loving awareness, brings the deep unconscious into the conscious light. It is in this initiatory moment that we begin to uncover the luminous gift, our innate brilliance that has been clouded beneath. As the precious gem of yours is revealed and realized, we celebrate the reclamation of even more aspects of the authentic soul self. This is the moment divine alchemy occurs—transmuting those dark, dense, heavy thoughts and feelings into dazzling rainbow rays of crystalline light. Through this process of spiritual transfiguration we embody blissful, radiant, and aligned liberation, guiding us toward our highest potential and greatest joy—our dharma.
